ENTEROGRAPHY MRI EXAMINATION WITH CONTRAST AGENT

Enterography MRI can detect certain changes in the small intestine, such as inflammation, bleeding, and tumours. This diganostic method can also be used to diagnose Chron’s disease affecting the small intestine. The role of MRI examination in diagnosing Chron’s disease is to detect the thickening of the intestinal wall, to separate the inflamed areas, and to determine the stage of cancerous lesions.

When contrast agent is used for the examination, having a medical referral and a satisfactory kidney function test (creatinine and carbamide) is obligatory. The test results cannot be older than a month. Prior to the examination, it is possible to perform a rapid creatinine test on-site, the blood sample is taken from a fingertip.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE EXAMINATION?

A consultation with a physician is always advised before an MRI examination. It is important to know that due to the powerful magnetic field, you are not allowed to bring any metals to the examination room, including implants, piercings or other jewellery in the body. Medical referral is always required for examinations carried out with the injection of contrast agent. Do not eat 6 hours prior to the examination.

In what cases the screening cannot be performed?

Please note that we cannot perform the examination in the following cases:

• there is metal in your body (prosthetics, implants) which can be magnetized
• you cannot provide a medical referral for the examination
• in case your kidney function is under 45 eGFR, we cannot perform the examination with contrast agents
• you have severe pain, which makes it impossible to lay still for longer periods
• you have claustrophobia, and cannot stay still in closed places
• you are pregnant, or it is possible that you are pregnant
• you are late for the examination, or do not show up for the examination

Please do not buy the service in the above-mentioned cases.

In case the examination cannot be done due to the above-mentioned cases, please consider that we cannot reimburse the purchase.

HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
