Cardiac MRI examination with contrast agent
Product Information
Product code: WS_00024 Category: MRI Scan147 000 Ft
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (MRI) examination uses a strong magnetic field, radio frequency waves, and a high-performance computer to take highly detailed still and moving images of different parts of the heart (cardiac chambers, heart valves, myocardium, pericardium) and its surroundings.
In all cases, medical recommendation and a kidney function test (creatinine and urea), which is not older than one month, are required for an examination with a contrast agent. Before the scan, it is possible to perform a rapid creatinine test on site, from which the eGFR is calculated. The test is performed on a sample taken from a fingertip.
Description
Cardiac MRI examination with contrast agent
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (MRI) examination uses a strong magnetic field, radio frequency waves, and a high-performance computer to take highly detailed still and moving images of different parts of the heart (cardiac chambers, heart valves, myocardium, pericardium) and its surroundings.
Several images are taken from different angles of the heart as well as of the vessels entering and leaving the heart during the study. Recorded images can be used to see and measure heart function and how blood flows through blood vessels and heart valves.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE EXAMINATION?
In all cases, it is recommended that you consult your doctor for details before having an MRI scan. It is important to know that due to the strong magnetic field, it is forbidden to bring any metal, device or object containing metal into the examination room! This applies to jewellery, piercings in the body, and some makeup products may also contain a substance that affects the success of the examination. In case of an examination with contrast agent, you should not eat for 6 hours beforehand.
If you have an arrhythmia during the scan (atrial fibrillation, very common extrasystole), the quality of the examination is likely to be worse, so its value is limited.
IN WHICH CASES CAN THE EXAMINATION NOT BE PERFORMED?
Please note that we cannot perform the examination in the following cases:
- There is metal in your body (prosthetics, implants) which can be magnetized
- You cannot provide a medical referral for the examination
- In case your kidney function is under 45 eGFR, we cannot perform the examination with contrast agent
- You have severe pain, which makes it impossible to lie still for longer periods
- You have claustrophobia, and cannot stay still in closed places
- You are pregnant, or it is possible that you are pregnant
- You are late for the examination, or do not show up for the examination
Please do not buy the service in the above mentioned cases.
